Go ... and Do ...
Just… Go … and … Do …
I just realized this is pretty close to Nike’s marketing slogan “Just Do It!”. Sometimes I like to change it to “Just do what you can!” And sometimes it becomes “Just take a nap!” I remember turning 40 and thinking I was old. I know when my parents were 40, I thought they were SO ancient!
Well, Dooley and I are going and doing these days. We’ve headed west as usual, … maybe someday we’ll go North and South …
We had planned to participate in ‘Playing Music On The Porch Day’. Unfortunately … in Texas … in August … 105 degrees on the porch makes a great argument for ‘Playing Music In The Living Room’!
We’ve been having good times, both making new friends and visiting with old ones…
Friday Night Lights … The Tradition continues …
(it’s been 26 years since I last went to a high school football game)
Yep, High School Football in Texas has a legendary reputation. I went to a game this past Friday with some new friends. Their son was playing in his first High School Varsity football game. His parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, old babysitters, even strangers like me, … were very proud … I heard many discussions about past games, championships, victories against those rivals from across town … and I had some memories of my own …
Remember in those older days in younger leagues, each team had that one guy that had grown up before the rest of us? It would take the whole team to tackle him? The opposing team in this game had that guy. Only this guy played in the offensive line, and when they needed yardage, they would put the ball carrier behind this guy and charge through the defense like … a freight train through a busy intersection … Our guys, the home team, kept it close, but lost by a touchdown … ☹
Dooley is a Service Dog …
A real, … Service Dog … It’s not something I talk about often, or at all. We rarely take advantage of his status, unless we just can’t find dog friendly hotels or restaurants. Dooley always behaves. If he has a fault, it’s that he loves everyone. Most places are accommodating and understanding. But not all …
Recently, I have noticed a pretty consistent tell … as we walk into a restaurant. (Or business) If we see several signs that say: “Pets not allowed, Service dogs Welcome”, REALLY MIGHT MEAN: “We’re going to harass you about your dog until you don’t want to be here”… This is not the norm … and is of course against Federal Law. It has only happened three times in the past three years in our travels across the country, 20+ states. But these signs, combined with their large presence in a small area … tell us we might not be wanted …
“Methinks they protest too much!”
More later … We’re Goin’ and Doin!
Life Happens Y’all … Everywhere … All the time
